Intuitive weaving is fascinating to Kathie Carlson. The yarn lets her know the next direction to go for color and texture. It is the stunning richness of these woven works, along with the surprise of seeing the finished products as they are pulled off the roller of the loom, that inspires her.
Starting out with detailed and representational work, I went through a period of impressionism. As time went by my work became looser, using more paint, bolder color, bigger brushes and palette knives. Now I depend less on what I see and more on what is in my mind's eye when creating a painting.

I’m a full time artist working in Oil, Pastel, Watercolor and Photography. I find that, in my work, painting and photography are converging as a similar artistic process is used to create the final image. I am a former President of WVAL and I am part owner of Art on 12 Gallery in Wimberley.
MEDIUM:Folk Art Dolls
Dollmaking combines my fondness for textiles, the need to scrounge for treasures, a love of repurposing and a desire to create. Combine humor plus time and a doll appears; hopefully creating laughter/joy. Therefore, if you smile or laugh out loud I’ve achieved my goal and a bonus of receiving joy.
